Just under two weeks ago, Jason and I moved into our new home here in Arkansas. After four years living at our previous address, we knew that shedding the old skin and trying on something new would be difficult. The first several days were odd with so much space, so little of our things, so little of the creature comforts we knew from before. Aside from leaving our home we left our city, our state, our friends, our family, our jobs. Everything in Arkansas was new. Everything is new. All except for us and the little fur ball we affectionately refer to as The Cos.
As the days went by, we began to receive our belongings, unpack, and even put things in their new place. I think we surprised ourselves with how quickly we rose to the task of making our new house a home. Within two days the majority of our boxes were unpacked, broken down, and in the recycle bin. We purchased hooks for hanging artwork and I was armed with a hammer and stepstool.
The first place one sees upon entering our home is the entryway. A set of stairs looms in front of you. One must climb the stairs to access the living areas. However daunting the stairs may seem with arms full of boxes, the walls contain delightful little cutouts at various intervals that serve as nooks for belongings. Jason and I sought to fully utilize these architectural details and quickly developed a plan for what items would find their home in these nooks.
The first area contains four prints taken by Jason in square silver frames. We love these tiny prints as many are portraits of a few of our favorite people.
The second area contains four pieces Jason acquired as a young man, mostly during his travels in New Mexico. I absolutely love how they welcome you up the staircase.
At the top of the stairs you will find a print made by Butch Phillips, a family friend of Jason’s, in 2002.
I can officially welcome you now, as you have made your way through the entry way of our home. So, welcome, readers! I would like to extend an official invitation for you to return tomorrow as together we will make our way into the front hall and then venture into an undisclosed room. So, tonight, dig through your closets to find your spelunking gear. One must have a helmet (with light), brown safari jacket, boots, and a smile. Shhh, don’t question me, I love adventure!

Such a great entryway – I love all the nooks and treasures. :) Can’t wait for the next adventure!
Thanks, Em! :)
It looks wonderful, Jen!
Thank you, Lauren. I look forward to posting more photos this week. You will have to stop back by. :)
