Andrew Bird at the Guggenheim

By in Entertainment, Music

I know I’ve been talking about libraries a lot over the past week or so. I’d like to switch gears a bit and talk about one of mine and Jen’s favorite musical artists: Andrew Bird. We enjoyed his music for a while, but when we went to one of his shows last year and heard this:

And other songs that were so incredibly compelling, complex, and moving. If you haven’t seen him in concert, he is truly singular – and you should see him if the opportunity arises. A while back, I found out he performed at the Guggenheim, but not a “normal” show – there were many tiny horns – visually and aurally suited to the space. I love that he is willing to push the limits and challenge himself (and his listeners) with such a fascinating show. Anyhow, here’s the video – what do you think about it? Interesting concept? Schmaltz?

I love it. I love that he is consistently willing to challenge himself and push his talents into new realms. He is incredible to see live and I will always do my best to see him when he is nearby. As far as the Guggenheim show, ingenious idea. A single horn at the Dallas show was magnificent so I can hardly fathom what it must be like to hear 96!

Amazing. I love Andrew Bird. I’m so fascinated by the expression of passion in such a strong way (music, art, writing, or otherwise). Its enveloping. Thanks for sharing!
