To follow up my recent post regarding The Dirty Dozen and The Clean 15, I have an excellent infographic for you, readers. The graphic below details seasonal availability for locally grown fruits and vegetables in six locations within the States. Granted, Texas is not listed. However, this graphic gives you a general idea of what may be grown in your area and how far certain produce has to travel to make it to your local grocer.
Purchasing local is the healthiest, most cost efficient, environmentally responsible choice when it comes to food. So, check out the graphic (it can be interactive!) and perhaps it can help you tweak your weekly grocery list. Happy eating, friends!
