Shake, Rattle and Roll by Big Joe Turner, Mahgeetah by My Morning Jacket, and Something In Common by Free Energy, all heard on the radio immediately following my morning workout.
Additionally, a middle-aged Hispanic gentleman on his bicycle turns around behind me in the far right lane to remove a deceased bird from the road. He gently set it on the ground in a grassy spot on the sidewalk and pedaled away.
I hope something moves you today, readers. If so, please share in the comments below. Have a lovely weekend and I will see you back here next week, after vacation!

Last week I got the call. I’m in! What’s my first move? I think about it and decided to do it. I buy a ticket to Florida. I call my friend. He has a couch for me to sleep on. I look at my bank account. I can spare a few dollars. I decided to visit some old friends and old haunts and go to Florida in search of a quality used car. I board the aircraft in Harrisburg and land in Tampa by noon. My bud, whom I haven’t seen in 4 years, is there. We shake hands and trade stories. He grabs my bag and tosses it into the Turbo Bug. We zoom in and out of traffic in route to his house. He’s only a few years older than I yet he has 2 houses. This kid is someone to learn from. He feeds me well, we talk about the future and reminisce the past. He shows me what he’s been doing for the past 4 years. I take mental notes and get inspired. I search craigslist for a car. I build a list. At night my friend returns home from work. We go out and test drive. I kick tires, he chats up the owners. We go home empty handed. A few days later I find something. I go out and kick tires and talk shop and decide to buy. We shake hands and iron out the wrinkles. I’m going to sleep on it, but it looks like a done deal. The next morning I go to the bank, I pull out my savings, I meet the guy, we take another test drive. We agree that this deal is done. I hand over the doe, he hands me the key. I’m money poor and car rich. I hang in Florida for another day. Tomorrow I will drive home. What inspired my actions? A call from an electrical union. I’ve been accepted into the IBEW. If that acronym is unfamiliar, google it.
Nice work, Tony! It is amazing how one thing can initiate an entire slew of events, isn’t it? I hope this is the beginning of something great for you – and Erin, too! Lots of good thoughts coming your way!
Tony – congrats on acceptance into the IBEW! Awesometown! What kind of a car did you buy?
