Thank you, someecards.com, for concisely summing up my feelings during the past week.
As an advocate for children and progressive youth policy, I am beyond delighted that we are moving in a direction that will enable more children and their families to receive health care in this country. While programs such as CHIP and Headstart exist for the benefit of children, these programs are not always accessible or an option for families. I am aware of this on a very personal level. More options and more opportunities for parents to provide their children with health care is integral for the development of families. There will always be the irresponsible parent, the one who lets all opportunities to ensure the health of their child pass them by however; the less cracks there are and the more options available, the lower these unfortunate numbers are.
So, hooray for those in my own family that may now see the day of having health insurance! And hooray for every child and every parent out there that has just that much more opportunity to care for their own family!
